Combust Planets in Prashna — When Significators Lose Power

When a planet sits within 6-12° of the Sun, it's combust (asta) — its rays are absorbed. In Prashna, a combust significator is one of the strongest no-signals.

Combust orbs

  • Mercury: 12-13°.
  • Venus: 8-10°.
  • Mars: 17°.
  • Jupiter: 11°.
  • Saturn: 15°.
  • Moon: full or void cycle separately.

What combustion does in Prashna

  • Negates the planet's normal influence.
  • When the karaka is combust, the matter is denied or postponed.
  • When Lagna lord is combust, the asker lacks clarity.

Workarounds

  • Wait for the planet to leave combustion (days to weeks).
  • Re-ask the question afterwards.
  • Don't take action while significator is combust.
