Lal Kitab uses the same nine grahas as Vedic astrology — Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu — but assigns each unique behavioural and remedial dimensions. Understanding these significations is the foundation of any Lal Kitab reading.

Sun, Moon, Mars

  • Sun (Surya) — Father, government, authority, vitality. Strong Sun = leadership; weak Sun = headaches, ego conflicts.
  • Moon (Chandra) — Mother, mind, peace, nourishment. Strong Moon = emotional balance; weak Moon = anxiety, mother's suffering.
  • Mars (Mangal) — Brothers, courage, blood, property. Strong Mars = drive; weak Mars = anger, accidents.

Mercury, Jupiter, Venus

  • Mercury (Budh) — Sister, business, speech, intellect. Lal Kitab notes Mercury especially affects in-laws.
  • Jupiter (Guru) — Wisdom, children, dharma, wealth. Almost always benefic.
  • Venus (Shukra) — Spouse, marriage, comfort, vehicles. Especially strong for women's charts.

Saturn, Rahu, Ketu

  • Saturn (Shani) — Karma, longevity, hard work, servants. Lal Kitab gives Saturn special weight in delays and chronic illness.
  • Rahu — Maternal grandfather, foreign things, illusion, sudden gains. Difficult in 1st, 2nd, 7th, 9th, 12th houses.
  • Ketu — Son, spiritual liberation, paternal lineage. Often associated with sudden losses or detachment.
